How reliable is the DBS method?
The DBS (dried blood spot) method has been proven to be one of the most reliable forms of testing in healthcare, and has been used to diagnose a huge number of afflictions, including HIV, HPV, Hepatitis, and more. It is also one of the most reliable methods for ensuring accuracy of testing.
Does the DBS method hurt?
DBS is relatively mild and painless, and involves the use of a finger-prick method to extract a blood sample. For those who are more sensitive to finger-prick extractions, make sure your fingers are warm, and try to avoid the tips of the fingers, as they have more nerve endings. Some choose the sides of the fingers, or the pad of the thumb, which are less sensitive.
