DBS is relatively mild and painless, and involves the use of a finger-prick method to extract a blood sample. For those who are more sensitive to finger-prick extractions, make sure your fingers are warm, and try to avoid the tips of the fingers, as they have more nerve endings. Some choose the sides of the fingers, or the pad of the thumb, which are less sensitive.
